Disappearing filenames-Windows Explorer

When I click on a filename in Windows Explorer, for the purpose of changing the filename, the filename and surrounding box both disappear until I have typed in the new filename and hit return. Everything is white, I can't see the filename or the new name I am typing. Thanks,

Obviously, your Window Text and Tool Tip Text aren't both white.

I'd right-click on the Desktop>Choose Properties>Appearance tab and experiment with some other colors, or save your current scheme and apply a new one to see the results.
