Quick Time Player (W2K)

i have tried to remove something from the startup called qttask, i have tried stoping it from loading using msconfig but after restart it always comes back. i have also tried to uninstall quicktime, and it finishes and it says uninstall went ok, but that qttask is still there, and when i click on a link in IE that leads to an mp3 or a mpg that i want to download, starts quick time instead of downloading it

so, how do i get rid of it?
