hi
My problem is that my pc takes a lot of time to shut down, stays in "saving you settings" for almost a minute. the system is a athlon xp 2000+, it starts up faster than it shuts down!!
what may be causing this?

I had the same problem a week or two ago and removing Q329170 did, at that time, correct the problem. Don't worry about the long list of progs it gives you; just go ahead. Afterward, you might want to clean up remnants of that fix by doing a search on Q329170 (ie. do something like Q329170.*).
HOWEVER, Q329170, by itself, is not the culprit. I think that, in MY particular case, a soundcard driver update interacting with Q329170 was the problem. This became apparent when I restored my main partition from an earlier copy that had Q329170 on it but which DIDN'T have the soundcard update and found that my shutdown time was back to normal (around 15 secs).
The best strategy is to avoid installing Q329170 and any doubtful, untested driver update AT ALL.

but some of those progs on the list where other updates
