View Full Version : Creating new partitions (W2K)

I just got a new server with 3 146GB drives comprising a RAID 5 array. It came (from Dell) with two partions already, the C drive, 4GB, containing W2K, and the D drive, 270GB, which is empty. I need to create a seperate partion, an E drive, I suppose, to load a payroll application. I've tried using Computer Management to do this, but the D drive is an extended partition and won't let me change anything. I even tried booting to my W2K CD and was going to delete the D partition and create the D and E. However, the RAID array makes the setup program think that there's no physical disk. It only sees the virtual drive created by the striping. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

When you boot to the Win2K CD did you load the RAID drivers or just allow the system to start? When you boot from the cd, as soon as the blue screen appears you should see a message about third party RAID or SCSI dirvers at the bottom of the blue screen telling you to hit F6 to load the RAID drivers. So have your driver disk ready.

Past this point I wouldn't know what to tell you, so I'll stop now.
