This is exceedingly odd.
Sometimes when I am surfing the web, it seems as though windows improperly resolves web addresses, usually pointing them at other sites I've been to recently. For example, I've had the ebay error page show up when accessing userfriendly.org, but it's fine a moment later, or maybe it takes 10 refreshes bfeore it works... it seems to be random. I've tried ipconfig /dnsflush, turning off the DNS service, and I don't even know what else. I wiped my hosts file down to localhost 127.0.0.1 but that didn't fix it.

Does anyone have any ideas? It's happened to me once before quite some time ago, on a different computer, and I just gave up and reinstalled windows, then. I'd rather not do that here.

I'd think it was a virus, but I only built the thing a week or two ago and haven't received any virii in my email yet.

I'm running windows 2000 pro with SP3 and I'm up to date on the assorted hotfixes. Athlon XP 1800+ processor, 512 megs of ram, cable modem with linksys router.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm pretty much at my wit's end, here.
