My son thinks he is a big computer geek. He has changed something in our system that does not allow fast user switching any longer. It looks like the old Win 98 login. We have tried changing the value of the AllowTSSessions key and the Terminal services and that hasnt worked. Can anyone help me restore the switching feature via the registry. I dont want to reinstall and lose all my data, settings, etc.

Go into control panel/user accounts. change the option to the way users logoff to Fast User Switching. Making that change also directly changes the necessary registry values.

Thank you for your response. However, I have done that and it still does not work. What else can I try?

He may have disabled a service running in the background. I've been looking closely at those lately, and I remember some of them having to do with User Accounts, Fast User Switching, and Login Methods. You may want to check them out. Control Panel > Admin Tools > Services.
