Any idea how to specify which device to use when faxing, using the Windows fax service?
I have two modems, one a Xircom PCMCIA ethernet/modem and one USB modem (Motorola V60 phone).
When I only have the Xircom installed I can fax (fax service) with out problem and I can place a voice call (dialer) without problem.
When I plug in the Motorola I can place a voice call with no problem on it (dialer), and the Xircom voice still works, however the fax service hangs. If I remove the Motorola then the Xircom fax goes through OK.
So it is obviously the presence of the Motorola that is causing the problem. However, the fact that the Xircom voice still functions just fine with the Motorola installed tells me that it is not necessarily an incompatibility that they can't coexist.
So I am trying to explore the possibility that the problem is that I haven't designated which modem to use for faxing. This, as opposed to when I use the dialer (where I designate which modem to use) and everything works fine for both even when they are on the system at the same time.
I can't find any way to designate a single modem for faxing. The best I have found is to set priority and check/uncheck sending and receiving on the modems in the Fax Service Management console. Can I designate a modem for faxing using the native Win2K fax service?

The proceeding was from the "For What It's Worth" files, which by definition may be worthless. Take with a grain or ten of salt.
