Hi all,
Have a question concerning IE(5.5) on a W95 PC. It's really slow when a java applet comes on. the user can type in 4 char and the cursor will move with blank entries and then 15 secs later, the text appears.
Any idea why ....
much appreciated,
tia,

What are the computer hardware's specs? RAM, MHz, GB?

have you tried to upgrade to sp2?
or even 6.0
It happened to my ie 5.5 as well, after I applied to sp2, it copied over all the bad dll files and works okay now

PC specs... P 200, 196 Ram. Did notice that when I upgraded to IE5.5 sp2, and the system was coming back up with it's configuration, there was a atl.dll file which the system reported corrupt. copied it from another PC and didn't get the error anymore. Will update with IE6.0sp1 anyway...
no harm @ this point.
thks,

I have IE5.5 on about 200 machines. There is a noticable lag when starting up on all machines under 450 MHz, especially the Win95 machines. The Win98 are a little bit better, but not much.
Personally, I'd bet it is the old OS and slow processor trying to run a relatively bulky app like IE. Seems to be the trend on my campus anyway. I'd be surprised if the problem got any better after installing IE6. But that's just my opinion.
