Everytime I click a link to load a different page, it takes nearly a full minute to load. Sometimes longer.

Sorry for the inconvenience, we're trying to track down the problem now. It's not happening from every location so it's hard to determine whether it is a site problem or network problem.

Thanks for your patience.

WinGuides.com runs on BSD Unix so I don't think that's the problem /images/forums/icons/smile.gif.

I thought it was my browser, I've just started using Opera. Least thats one thing counted out.

Not quite the newbie I used to be, but still prone to the odd mistake :D

Oh. Some tech support guy once told me that's the first thing you do when you have a problem, and it always fixes everything. Guess not.

Thanks, Allan. It's good to be back although I won't be here as often as I used to be or as often as I want to be. That is still a bit farther in the future.

Guess what? I GOT IT!
I finally have XP. Not too good at it yet, but learning takes time which I now have even more of. Guess I'll be dropping in to TweakXP soon, too.

Good for you /images/forums/icons/laugh.gif.

I guaranty you'll be much happier with it than you were with 98 once you get used to it. It's resource management alone makes it worth the move. Look forward to seeing you over there from time to time.

Thank you Patrick. I really missed the group here. Funny that you can miss people you've never met, but I most certainly did.
I've only read a few of the posts so far, (Would you believe I was 946 posts behind in the Registry area only?) but the ones I saw were a little bit, how shall I say it. . . Boring? Too harsh. Dry? Much better.

How is yackity? Better than me, I trust. You do realize spring is here and you aren't? Actually, I refer to the calendar only as the weather hasn't been very springy in the north central burbs. How's Oregon?
Take care,

It's great to be back. As I said to Patrick, I really missed you guys. Not too often a sweet young thing like me is lucky enough to have so many "boy"friends. I received many notes from members asking how I was. They were really appreciated. Made me feel like I belonged. It's a nice feeling.
Take care,

Hi Nana,

946 posts huh. WinGuides is as popular as its always been!

I think helpful and informative are qualifiable alternative descriptions.

Hope to see more of you.

Patrick

Patrick,
That 946 was only the Registry & Tweaks area. In total, I was behind 5504 posts. Usually I read every post, but I think it's best if I skip some this time unless I do nothing else but read for the next two weeks!
I was gone just under 6 weeks, so, as you already said, WinGuides is definitely as popular as ever.

That's a gosh darn shame. It's beautifully sunny here albeit a tad cool, but spring is finally in the air if not on the ground, yet.

Hey Nana,

Welcome back. I've been up in Austin all weekend hence my late response. I'm glad to see you're recovering.

I'm also glad you've finally transitioned to XP. Give it a few months and you will be as expert with XP as you are with Me /images/forums/icons/smile.gif.

Cheers

Thank you, Andy.
Coming back on a weekend, I figured some of my good friends might be away. Especially with spring f-i-n-a-l-l-y coming.

XP. What can I say? I actually bought a new computer with it already installed. Unfortunately, I'm still pecking away on the old one for the time being. I want to get up close & personal with XP before I let it (and me) loose on the Intenet. I'm fine tuning for now & learning, learning, learning.

Best wishes./images/forums/icons/smile.gif

Thank you, Dan, for being such a good sport.

I guess I'll have to think long & hard before I get sick again, huh? What the heck, it wasn't that much fun, anyway.
Besides that, I can't believe how much I've forgotten being away from a computer that long. Unfortunately, the computer hasn't forgotten anything. It still remembers how to freeze at the most inopportune times. Another couple of weeks plugging away with XP and I'll be all set!
Take care,
Nana /images/forums/icons/smile.gif

Thank you, Mac.
I'm much better than I was, thank goodness, but not 100% yet. Soon, though.

You're right about nursing, or even living & breathing, in the GTA right now. (That's the "Greater Toronto Area" for the WinGuides non-Canucks.) It's downright scary! Every day we hear about more people ill and, too often, there's more deaths. Also, every time you turn around, there's another hospital closing, either completely or just its Emergency department. It's really bad.

Enough bad news. How about that great Canadian, Mike Weir, taking Augusta by storm? Pretty darned good, wouldn't you say?

Time to go,
Nana /images/forums/icons/smile.gif
