i have norton antivirus 2002 installed on my pc, but its subscription has expired. i dont see the point in updating the subscription though.

anywayz could i disable the pop-up warining 'subscription expired' at each log on???

would this solve it...

in regedit
-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
--SOFTWARE
---Symantec
----Norton Antivirus
-----DefAlert

then change or deleate....
SubExpiredAlertCycle

would this work or just mess up the antivirus????

chearz...

Your best bet would be to renew your subscription

I think this is OK.

Jr. isn't asking about circumventing protection or accessing the service that is no longer available, just keeping what he's legally has now and stopping the nag screen.

Jr: Yeah, that would probably get it, and it shouldn't screw up anything beyond recovery. But first you should check in the apps preferences and see if there is a way to disable or modify the reminder period in the settings. This registry setting might need to be an specific increment or value instead of an absolute.

However, I will respectfully, but strongly, disagree with the thought that there is no point in renewing the subscription. If you didn't use AV at all, that would be one thing. But if you do depend on AV to keep you safe then you should be up-to-date at all times. JMHO.

More important, using NAV without current definitions will not help much. You will be vulnerable to every new virus that hits the net. Spend the $5.00 (or whatever it is).

I don't think I would agree with that at all. He owns the app, presumably. He has obtained his current definitions under the the terms of his original license, presumably. And now he just wants to maintain the status quo without having to listen to it tell him to renew constantly. Absolutely nothing illegal or unethical about that. Unwise maybe, but I stated as much.

To my mind, that is what these forums are all about - making our computers do what we want them to within the bounds of law and ethics.

you wish to renew your subscription? I'm kindof tempted in giving you how to fix it but because of the people here I'll just give you a clue...

"Try to read the program help!"

I tell you this is not a "hack" or a "tweak", NAV2K already have this in itself. Have fun finding it!!!
