IE 6 will not let me search from the address bar. I have "Just display results in the main window" selected. When I type in, for example tweaks, it responds with http:///?%20tweaks and gives me the blank page. I tried various tweaks and everything to get this fixed, to no avail. It also will not go to a website if I just type in winguides without pressing ctrl + enter. Please help!

I am using Win98 and not Win2K. The following was taken from Google to set the search engine and search assistant settings to use Google.com on a Win98 machine. I did however change the first line to Win2K registry editor. I can not be certain that the keys are the same.
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main]
"Search Page"="http://www.google.com"
"Search Bar"="http://www.google.com/ie"
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchURL]
""="http://www.google.com/keyword/%s"
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search]
"SearchAssistant"="http://www.google.com/ie"
I post this because I believe it is within these registry keys that you are missing something.
The above sets the mentioned functions to use Google.com. It can be replaced with any search engine of choice.
Assuming that you have already gone through your own settings within the "Search, Customize" pane and still want more joy then take a look around in the keys mentioned above.
Do not merge the above unless someone more knowledgable can confirm it is good for Win2K.
