Heres a problem I've had and the solution that I've found.
I installed several networks recently with Win2k as the server and Win98 as the clients. I setup the networks as domains and everything was fine for a couple of weeks and then on one or two of the networks clients would log off and no one would be able to log on not even the admin. All you got was a username or password error.
It turns out there is a MS hotfix available. It seems problems with vredir.vxd can cause the clients to retain their validation keys and prevent them obtaining a new one. Doesn't always happen (typical MS). You have to contact MS for the fix referencing Q272594. There are different fixes depending on the version of Windows you are using as clients.
Hope this helps in future.
