Hi All,

I've made a local network containing 3 Winxp Pro - 1 W2k - 1 Win98 and 1 win95 machine.

Everything works just fine and the necessary files and folders are shared just properly.

The only problem is I can't have access to Win2k and winXp's desktop from the other PCs. I've tried to make a shortcut of win2k's desktop. But as I try to make the shortcut I receive an error that says I haven't the permission to access \\Dell-gx\C\Documents and Settings\MnIn Shdw" and I have to call the administrator.

I have the privilliges of an administrator and actually log in as an administrator to all the PCs.

What can I do to let winxp and win2k let me access to the desktop from another machine?

Any kind of assist/help is much appreciated

Hi,

Is the password the same on all of the Administrator accounts?

Hi Paul38 and thanks for the reply.

I'm mostly on one of winxp machines and login with an account name "MnInShdw" with administrator privilliges and I've set a password for it. No Password has been set for the other PC's.

I've made a shortcut of win98 and win95 machines' desktop into my C:\Documents and Settings\MnInShdw\SendTo and am able to send different documents to the other PC's desktop. but have had no luck for machines on winXp and Win2K pro.

Any kind of input may be a great help to me.
Thanks in advance.

This may help but may not. I have seen many weird access problems on mixed networks when the XP firewall is enabled. You should check that it's disabled.

Cheers
