I was wondering if anyone knew of a registry tweak to disable the "set as wallpaper" feature in Microsft Paint. Please let me know, I need this for administrative uses on a school network.
Fire up regedit and navigate to
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Policies\ActiveDesktop
Create a DWORD value & call it NoChangingWallPaper and set its data to 1.

Another way to prevent student (et. all) from changing the background with ms paint:
First, download ResHacker here:
<a target="_blank" href=http://www.onlythebestfreeware.com/program.asp?program_id=107>http://www.onlythebestfreeware.com/program.asp?program_id=107</a>
Then:
<font color=red>FIRST, make a copy of the file you are going to modify, in case you need to restore it.</font color=red>
Go to File..Open, then browse to MSpaint.exe (usually in C:\Program Files\Accessories\mspaint.exe). Double click Menu and then double click the sub menu named 2, next click 1033. Look at the right pane find the two Set as Wallpaper options (cant remember exactly what they are called) and delete them. You could also replace them with a message saying Options Disabled or something like that. <font color=red>Click Compile Script.</font color=red> Close ResHacker and a message will pop up saying: Resources have been modified do you wish to save changes. Click Yes. Then browse out to the original MSpaint.exe, click it to fill the Save As box, and click Save. Choose YES when asked if you want to replace it or not.
