application shuts down quickly (W98)

hi all,

weird, I have a 98 SP2. when I try to install an application (antivirus in this case), the setup.exe starts and then closes itself up...

this is not specific to the AV, I tried going into regedit and same deal..

any advice..

Yep, There's a 3rd party program installed on the computer and running hidden in the background.
