Since my printer took a smokin' dump last night, I need to use my pop's printer. What is the best way to go about doing this?

What OS's are involved?

How is the printer connected?

What is the network setup?

I am on Win2000 and the pinter is local to a Win98 box. All connected with LAN using a RP614 Netgear router. We are both in the same workgroup.

It would make more sense to hook the printer to the W2k machine and then share it to the 98 machine. W2k will make a better printer server than 98.

All you have to do to share it (on wither machine) is right click on it and select share.

On the remote computer just go to install like normal but choose network instead of local computer. You can then browse the network to select the printer.

I did that and extracted the correct drivers, but it says it cannot connect to the print server because it has either been disconnected from the network or the printer name is wrong. And I know the printer name is right, because I just named it yesterday.
