Hello,

I made a small home network witch 2 computers. One has a cdrom-drive, the other a recorder-drive.

It is now possible to "play" and burn files from the cdrom-drive to the recorder. But....only for data.

It won't work for audio-cd's !! I cant play the cda-files on the other computer and also its not possible to copy an audio cd with the recorder.
In both, the mediaplayer and Easy CD Creator I can only see the track-files (1 kb). It is not possible to play or burn the music.

Is there a way to solve this problem ??

Both puters with XP;
All codecs installed;
Connected with crosslink UTP;
Protocol is TCP/IP
Made shared cdrom-drive and recorder-drive vissible for the other puter with a drive letter. They also show up in the Mediaplayer and recorder.

Thanx and greetings

Those are not the tracks. You need to 1st rip the tracks using any number of programs. (Go to www.download.com and search fro "CD Ripper") OR you can download "CloneCD and make an ISO image then burn that to a CD.

BTW, CloneCdis the easiest if you want to make an exact copy of a disk. If you want to select songs, RealJukebox, and CDNow are good programs to use. If you need any more help, let me know.

Thanks for your reply !

I am still curious to know what on a network causes this. Can't it transfer audiodata ?

And do understand this right: by making an ISO the soundfiles can be transported through the network because it is now normal data ?

Oh, and would the IPX / Netbios-protocol help here ?

I don't understand the problem you are having? You can't transfer the .wavs to the other CD burner or does it act like it is burning a CD, but the CD won't play?

Correct, SharpT.
I can only burn the 1kb trackfiles in stead of the actual .wav-files on the audio-cd

Have you used one of the pregrams I mentioned above to "Rip" the filews yet? If you have then you should have .wav files or .mp3 files, depending on the settings and/or capabilities of the program you used.

If you have .way or .mp3 let me know and I will direct you to what to do next.

I will try it with CloneCD within a few days (the network is at a friends place).

I keep you posted

Thanks so far !

CloneCD will make an ISO, an exact copy of the CD. YOu need to use one of the other programs if you want to pick and choose songs from multiple CD's.
