I am using 98 SE with IE 5.5 SP2 and I was wondering if it is okay to delete the downloaded programs files(which contain my activeX) files. I noticed on my windows utility "DiskCleanup" that there is an option to delete downloaded program files BUT I have not selected it. Is it SAFE TO delete these files in the downloaded program files folder?

I deleted them on my machine and it was safe. If you visit a website which requires one of these program files you will be asked to download them again.

Thanks for the info. I was just wondering why you have the option to CLEAN them with "Disk Cleanup" when you may need them again? I think I will clean them though as I sometimes have an error in IE and heard that if you clean up the download program area it may help, do you agree?

Yes, this sounds logical to me. Maybe the IE error comes from an old version of these files. Try it, you take low risk, I assume.

I tried using "Disk Cleanup" but the programs are still in the downloaded program folders so I guess I will have to delete each one seperately. Thanks again
