Hi all, I need some help with a problem.I recently created a second partition on my HD using Partition Magic 5.0 (My OS is 98SE) I followed the instructions to the letter. Since then I cannot get any sounds at all, when I check in device Manager my SoundMax Integrated Digital Audio is there and working properly, but it is not shown in Multimedia Audio Properties at all.Can I delete it from Device Manager and hope that Windows will recognise it after a reboot, or should I reinstall Windows over itself. Any advice will be much appreciated.
Dave
Sure. Delete it from device mgr & reboot. But my guess is that a simple reinstallation of the audio driver might do the trick.

Allan,
Thanks for the reply, I don't think it's a driver problem because if I delete the D partition I created and return C back to its original size (19469) then everything works as normal, any more advice will be appreciated
Dave, while you may be correct there's no harm in reinstalling the driver and that's really the first troubleshooting step. At the very least we need to rule out the driver and move on. But it's up to you.

I ran SFC and it found a corrupt file in my Windows/System32/Drivers. Loaded it from my W98 disc and, success everything is working again. Will now try and repartition and see what happens. Thanks very much for the help, it's appreciated
