Its my lucky day for posting to the forum, I've had another problem, each of my favourite settings keeps changing. I have large icons in some windows & arranged by name, after I shut the window & open it again everything has gone back to what it was aarghhh
Please dont say open folder options & hit "Like Current Folder" because I've done that a dozen times over the last week or two & it did nothing....../images/forums/icons/crazy.gif
Is there a way to make windows remember my settings, please anyone this is annoying
Win98SE
Thanks in Advance

Not sure whats causing the settings not to stick.
I know there is a Save Window Settings on the Explorer tab of TweakUI.
If thats already ticked then i just don't know

as a test change desktop colour and reboot. ..just to isolate a explorer settings problem or something with user profile.

Hi mysterywolf if I change any colour or appearance schemes they all stay no problems, its only the things in windows explorer when I change icon settings or if I remove the status bar & close the window then re-open it straight away it changes back... annoying
I can arrange by type then shut the window & re-open it straight away only to find it has reverted back again
BTW I dont use Tweak UI

I'm not shure, but this tip from Smitty may help:
1. Set up your folders the way you want (auto arrange, view, etc.)
2. Start Regedit
3. Navigate to HCCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Pol icies\Explorer
4. Modify NoSaveSettings value to 1
5. Exit program
cheers,

Glad that I could help you. But don't thank me, thank Smitty. But it is very important if you run Spybot Search & Destroy don't delete the green Window Explorer messages. Otherwise your settings will change back and Windows forgets your settings again. This was my painful experience.

Hi again, you might have hit the nail on the head on the reason why it stopped saving my settings, I really didnt know that the Green Windows Explorer Registry Settings were the cause so I'm going to pay strict attention to it from now on
Thanks Again /images/forums/icons/cool.gif
