Can't believe I need to ask this. I have done this before so it must be that obvious, I can't see the answer !!
After applying an image on my desktop (and enabling active desktop), the text to my icons has a block of colour behind it, the same as the previous desktop colour. How do I get rid of it ?

Thanks everyone

You probably used a third party app to do this.

I'm sure other members will give you their recommendations, i personally like Iconoid</font color=red> (http://www.sillysot.com/><font)

No. No 3rd party app. When you install WinMe from new, the desktop is a shade of blue. If you then apply a picture to the desktop, the background to the icon text is STILL the same blue colour from the first desktop background colour. I want to make the text background transparent !

the text background isnt transparent..its the colour of the desktop as configured in display appearance.
applying a picture = wallpaper, not desktop.

Yes....So how do I get the text to have a transparent background ?

I know the ME wallpaper you are talking about, the icon text background is the same colour as the wallpaper.

Like i said before, in ME i believe you need an app to do this

I'm sure I've done it before without extra software but can't remember how.

Thanks

Best we wait until someone on an ME machine comes along.

I know Nana uses ME, i'll send her a private msg.

is the text underlined (as in hyperlink?). ?if not then you haven't really succeeded in trying it .

Yes. I'm not quite the mug I'm being taken for. I tried all options available, and the text was underlined as a hyperlink.
