Recently, I have virtual pc installed onto my win98, and I have installed xp as an virtual pc image. Everything works fine, the xp (that is a guest on win98) can go to internet.

However, it does not go to the host pc (win98)
They both have different ips assigned. The host pc win98 is 192.168.1.102, the virtual pc or guest pc is 192.168.1.108. My router is 192.168.1.1
My virtual pc can't ping any internal address but itself which is 108. My host pc can't ping xp 108 address.

What have I done wrong?

However, if I used the browser to configure the router. Virtual pc can use browser to see 192.168.1.1 Very strange..

Any idea?

Only a guess, but if your subnet masks are incorrect then each machine will think that it is on a seperate network, try setting your subnet mask to 255.255.255.0 and your IP addresses to 192.168.192.1/2/3 and see if that makes a diiference

Thank you for your guess. But if it would be best if you actually have the software. In your case, I dont think you have used it.

As I was saying earlier, I set it up good, but it does not make any difference anymore. (I fogot to mention same subnet mask in earlier post)

Anyway, I found out that Virtual PC wont allow you to ping. My question has been resolved..

Thanks for reading the post anyway...
