SD will not load

When trying to load I get error creating registry key
HKEY_USERS\,DEFAULT\Software\PCTools\Spyware Doctor\Settings
RegCreateKeyEx failed; code 5
access denied

Has anyone had simlar problems and how do I resolve?
I have checked registry permissions and everything looks OK

Any ideas please?

Hey Iain45,

I got this reply from PC Tools Tech Support, hopefully it helps you:

1. Download the pctools.reg file to your desktop from:

http://support.pctools.com/manager/downloads.php?file=pctools.reg

2. Open Regedit (start > Run > Regedit > Ok)

3. Import the registry file that was downloaded in step 1.

(from regedit: File > Import > Browse to the pctools.reg file and double-click on the pctools.reg file)

4. Close regedit

5. Reinstall Spyware Doctor

Thanks for the suggestion but when tried got error message saying error accessing the registry.:confused:

I would say try reinstalling in safe mode, and run it in safe mode to see if it works.

If it doesn't, try doing what riffz's suggested, while in safe mode once again.

If it doesn't solve your problem then try to create a new user account and provide full administrative privilages and then try to install Spyware Doctor on that account and check whether problem still persist !!

Thanks for all the suggestions and I have now tried all combinations but still get the same error message.
It appears the SD program is not being allowed to change my registry under any circumstances.
Is this a registry problem or a known SD problem?
If registry, how do I get it to allow SD to load?
