1st post here so I'm not 100% sure I'm posting in the correct forum! Apologies if it's in the wrong place.
I want to catch windows xp before it displays the found new hardware dialogue, and then automate the sending of a message to the equivalent of a helpdesk, all transparent to the user. Then after that has happened in the background I want to kill the "found new hardware wizard". Does anyone get my drift and could anyone put me on the right track please. It all seems quite trivial and straight forward to me, but I am yet to get out of the starting blocks! Essentially I want our helpdesk to be informed when someone plugs some new hardware into their computer so that the users wrists can be slapped, and hopefully as part of the killing of the wizard the new hardware can be disabled. That's my plan anyway.
