Rename HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\MediaResources\MediaExtensions to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\MediaResources\-MediaExtensions
By HK...\MediaExtensions do you mean all the sub key under MediaResources
Cause I have
+MediaResources
----+InstallOptionalComponents
----+MIDI
-----NonGeneralMIDIDriverList
sub keys under the MediaResources key

If you rename the MediaExtensions key, all items will be removed.
If you rename the SimpleProperties key, you will elliminate all tabs, but devices will still be listed (and possibly removed!)
Aren't there alot greater threats than allowing someone to access Multimedia properties.
Be careful, export the key or document what you've done so you can undo it.

Cheers for that.. i'll try that and see what happens. The reason I want to do this is that people will do their work and play sounds and music and games.. with sounds e.t.c. :-)

Can't you just remove the sound cards? Our IT dept did.
