I have two computers, one running W2K and the other running ME. My network goes from a cable modem into a NetGear 4-port Router/FireWall/Print Server, and from the router out to each seperate computer. Router has an IP address of 1, mine is 2, wifey is 3. We share the network printer.
What I'd like to be able to do is connect directly to her computer to DL files to hers. Can I do this and how? I haven't been able to figure out how to run a workgroup on her computer.
Or should I just get PcAnywhere or Control F1?
Any info is appreciated. Thank you.

All you need to do is to map to her drive or vice versa.
Make sure both pcs are sharable. You don't need pcanywhere or any software.
Map to her address with explorer
or net use command
net use y \\192.168.1.3\C$ or \\192.168.1.3\C
make sure C$ or C is shared at her end.
For two pcs at home, no workgroup is needed.
Two ip addresses will be enough.

I enabled file and print sharing and enabled remote administration, and set up passwords to control access .. This was done on her machine (Windows ME). I am able to "see" her computer, but I can't gain access to it. The problem is that I am being asked to supply a username and password. Well, I know the password, but not the username. ME Help says that I need to go to the Remote Administration tab and click on ADD to add a username. Well, where is the ADD doohickey? It surely does not appear on that tab.
Thank you for the help so far.

You know the password, not the username? Why can't you just ask her? Would that be easier??

You would think so, but there is no username to even ask for.
ME Help says ...
If there is no Administrators list on the Remote Administration tab, your computer is not set up to control access by using a list of names. For information on controlling access with a list, click Related Topics below.
(There is Administrators List, and there are no related topics to controlling access with a list, except for a "How to Add a Name to a List", and this list doesn't exist)
You must have at least one valid entry in the Administrators list for remote administration to be effective.
No valid entries, because there is no list.

So, if .. "your computer is not set up to control access by using a list of names"
How would I set up the computer to control access by using a list of names? I tried adding going into Control Panel / Users , and adding a User, and this went okay, however, Remote Administration still doesn't have a list to control remote access.<P ID="edit"><FONT class="small">Edited by FMraz on 01/07/03 08:09.</FONT></P>
