i have read that it is possible to perform parallel installation under win2k, and re-install to a different dir other than winnt...
what is the impact on the previous installation (applications, utilities, registry settings etc)
thank you in advance!

A parallel installation is normally only used for recovering from a corrupt installation. If it is installed in a separate directory then it is treated as a totally separate operating system and all applications and utilities have to be re-installed.
The registry for the new install is also totally separate from the old install.
Is there a specific reason why you are considering a parallel install as it is a bad idea unless it is being used for troubleshooting.

well, i actually managed to restore my system's registry (it seemed to be the root of my problem) by means of the w2k recovery console and some backed up state data....
all i wanted to do is backup all data to cd-rs and it went ok....next thing was to reinstall w2k from an image of driveImage Pro....
Now it's alive and kicking....
thanx for you reply....
