I need to be able to get a list of applications that are installed on a user's computer. I have written a batch file that gets registered user, IP address, MAC address, Windows version, Novell Client installed. It is really messy though. Just used a bunch of Batch commands. I need to do this for a database at work. I have been asked now to get a list of the applications installed. I know this is going to be even messier because the HKLM>Software key is HUGE! Can someone help me accomplish this? If you can suggest any software out there that I can use (without having to install anything) and have it report to a text file I would like to hear about that. Thanks for your help.

Our IT section use something called Veritas Winland which appears to do what you want. Sorry I can't give you any more information.

At one time I had worked for this company.
It's mainly YTK products. However there is a feature that scans your hard drive and networked hard drives for all exe's on a system. It display's the name of the program, version etc. You can use filters and add search parameters too. Many other tweaks.
excellent products.

As a starting point, why not simply collect the startmenu and the desktop?
HKLM>software may contain anyway a lot of garbage and certain apps don't register at all.
Y0K compliant, counting upwards;)
