I am attempting to use windows NT as an operating system for a point of sale based application and am wondering if there is any way to allow that application to be the only thing the user is able to see or access when they login. I tried searching the registry for a defaultshell= tag but could not find anything like that. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

I don't think this is a reg tweak, as it can (?) be controlled from the user/groups/login scripts etc. WinNT is a pain in the rrr's. It never seems to do what it should... but it does, sometimes on other machines.

I had (and still have) a prob with default locales. The reg tweaks work on some machines, but not on others. I have given up trying to get WinNT operate 'globally'

P.S. Let 'em get on with it... it's the easiest option :-)

If you figure out how to set up your start up, let me know. I am trying to stop IE5 from starting when WIN95 starts. If you can help me, here are the properties of the (non-existant?)file that loads automatically:

res://C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\SHDOCLC.DLL/dnserror.htm#res://ie4tour.dll/welcome.h

OTHER INFO:
I think the problem is that I pasted a link to Gozilla which was not correct. It was actually a site from www.mp3masterlist.com, and not an
actual file, I'm not sure what's going on.

Also in Gozilla one time I clicked on the button that looks like a wheel in the downloading box. I think that is a Shell Doc button or something. I could not find help on what that button does, so I don't know what I did. But now Internet Explorer starts up every time Windows starts. My OLEAUT32.DLL system file has not been modified, supposedly.

Also, I uninstalled Gozzila, and then reinstalled it again.

The properties on the file that tries to open when windows starts are:
res://C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\SHDOCLC.DLL/dnserror.htm#res://ie4tour.dll/welcome.htm

Other INFO:
This file comes up every time I start windows 95. I recently upgraded from Explorer 4 to Explorer 5. I know it is not in the Task Scheduler.
The following filenames show up when I try to stop the process with Ctrl
Alt Del:

Wmexe (NV Ram Manager, US Robotics)
Systry (System Tray Applet)
Loadwc (Web Check)

I finally figured out one thing was Real Player 7, and fixed that (the
preferences told Real Player to start automatically in the tray). But that
dumb file still keeps coming up.

What is making this fill start up? Please Help....

Hey, I found a post that answered my question. I had to delete my loadwc.exe. So forget that long reply about Gozilla, and blah blah blah. It had nothing to do with "Setting Application..." I am just so glad I found the answer. I love this site.
