I reinstalled W2000 on a newly formatted partition and now my mouse cursor is invisible, and my PS2 mouse does not work at all. I use a Wacom tablet on my serial port and it 'works' but with an invisible pointer. The pointer appears when I blindly grab a window and drag it, but it disappears when I let go.
When I try to install a mouse using the Add New Hardware wizard, it doesn't even list input devices! When I go to the properties section of the mouse icon in the Control Panel the Driver section is blank and nothing happens when I click on Update Driver.
Is it possible that my motherboard (Gigabyte 440BX) has a dead mouse section and when I reinstalled W2000 it couldn't see any mouse and so it didn't even offer the software components? If so, is there a way to 'add' the pointer visibility to the Registry?
I have tried many third party 'mouse hiding' programs (like Active Cursor), but nothing works.
