Windows XP allows you to hide the inactive icons in your sytem tray but it doesn't allow you to clear the history of the list of items. This can be a privacy problem. To clear the history of the list, delete the two registry keys:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Explorer\TrayNotify]
"IconsStream"
"PastIconsStream"

Thanks Jason, we didn't have that one -- I actually came across the <a target="_blank" href=http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=KB;en-us;q283084>MS article</a> about the same thing as well. It's a handy one to know as those icons can really start to pile up if not cleared.
