Just tonight the weirdest thing started happening with Win2k. When I attempt to open my computer, my documents, control panel, a file search, or any other hard drive related window that I open from the start menu or desktop, explorer immediately crashes. The only way I have found to access these windows is to go into Internet Explorer, type in C:\ sas the address, and then use the link there for control panel, my computer, etc. So these windows are accesible, just not through the start menu or desktop. Anyone have any clue what could be going on here? I'm using IE6. I've already tried a virus scan and reinstalling IE, neither did anything. Any suggestions?

Hi,

What message do you get when explorer crashes?

The exact message is:
explorer.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows. You will need to restart the program.

An error log is being created.

Also, might be worth looking at the Doctor Watson log and see what error was generated.

Nope, I've never had Norton clean sweep on this computer, and I didn't upgrade to Win2k, I installed it oroginally.

Where do I find the Dr. Watson log? I can't do a file search as that causes explorer to crash.
