A friend of mine came over to help me and according to my friend, my computer might have a bad virus or my pc might be corrupted. What is the exact meaning of a PC being corrupted? I left my PC on to run a test in safe mode. Now everything is okay, but my friend mentioned that I might need to reinstall everything. Is their anyway I can back-up certain things that are important, like my website, and e-mails in microsoft outlook? He brought over a virus scan program on a rewrittable disk, and that didn't work. On my pc I still can't open adaptec cd creator, and my McAffe Virus scan. So what should I do? Any recommendations for virus scan software? I was looking at McAffe's Virus Scan 7.0.

Also when I go to my program files folder I see a list of these small icons; small square blue and white boxes. What is that? Is that evidence that my pc has a virus? I've never seen this before. It says "Gfi2182" and more like that. Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi,

Try this, it is a free on-line virus scanner:
