A friend of mine installed Netscape and set it as her default browser. She then decided she wanted to use just IE and uninstalled Netscape. Now when she clicks on links inside Outlook it is trying to find Netscape and gives an error. What setting do you change for this? Is this a registry change that needs to take place?

Thanks,
Walter

Go to Internet Options > Programs, and check "IE should check it's the default browser".

Thanks Tony. This was the first thing I told her to do. She said she did this, but links in OUtlook are still looking for Netscape.

Any thoughts?

Try it this way:

- On the Tools menu, click Folder Options, and then click the File Types tab.

- In the Registered File Types list, click URL:HyperText Transfer Protocol, click Advanced, and then click Edit.
- In the Actions box, type open.
In the Application used to perform action box, browse to the location of Internet Explorer (Iexplore.exe), and then click Open.
- In the Application box, type IExplore and then click OK.

Reboot when you're done.

Cheers, Tony

Thanks Tony. Does ths apply to Outlook 2000? I am pretty sure this is what she has. I'm using Office XP and the steps you outline don't work with that. Just in case any idea how to do this in XP?

Thanks,
Walter

About the same way:

Folder Options > File Types > scroll to (NONE) Hypertext Transfer Protocol, click Advanced, highlight "open", press 'edit', and make the changes.

It's not an Outlook thing but a "Windows thing".
