Missing apps.inf file (WME)

I am using WinME OS. Whenever I download, install or uninstall any program, i soon thereafter get a message that I am missing the apps.inf - also my setup file is gone. the last time this happened was directly after installing my scanner, however, it happens anytime after i download, install or uninstall. Any help would be appreciated

It's on your Windows CD-ROM.

Restore it to your Windows\Inf directory using the Msconfig applet:
