Hard Disk Accessing (WME)

Whenever I boot up, the hard disk spins once every second or so for about a minute after everything is loaded. This is incredibly annoying, does anyone know what this is? Or does anyone know of a utility that will allow you to see what process is accessing the hard disk?

How much memory does your pc have? You may be running too many programs at startup. This especially possible when running Norton programs. I would try turning anything off that you don't need, such as Windows Power Management, screensaver, any instant messangers(they start at Win startup unless told otherwise). You could aslo try increasing the size of Virtual memory. If you have a big harddrive, set it to either 2 or 4 x's the amount of memory you have.
