Hello everyone,

I'm sure most of you are familiar with this information already, but if anyone needs to gain a tiny amount of real estate on their HDD, have a look at the link below. It tells you some of the files in your root directory, what they are for & if they're necessary. As I said, it's only a a small amount of space you'll gain, but sometimes that's all you need.

Description of Windows Files Located in the Root Folder</font color=blue> (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=KB;en-us;q151667><font)

Good luck,
Nana /images/forums/icons/smile.gif

Windows 95, 98 and it worked in my WinMe as well.

Antrix,

Sorry, I don't use XP (Soon, honest!) so I'm not able to help you there. I'll have a look around to see if I can find anything for you, though.

And, Antrix, I'm a woman, not a man. "Nana" is an English nickname for a grandmother, which I am.

Nana,

You were contemplating Windows XP quite awhile ago. Come on...a nice fresh install of XP! /images/forums/icons/wink.gif

That's OK, Antrix. My husband might get concerned if people started calling me Sir, that's all.

Paul, you're trying to rush genius. You know that can't happen.
I put the XP-CD in my drive and examined what I could of XP that way. Not very satisfying, I know.

You're welcome, Hally.
I'll stick to Nana, thanks! "Grandma" makes me feel like I should be 70 years old and "Nanny" makes me feel like I'm my own employee.

Doh!

False advertising! You misled me. I was looking for a little piece of beach-front property in SoCal. I got all excited and stuff...

Josh

[i]Sorry folks, I'm an idiot. Moose out front shoulda told ya. [i]

Here you go, Josh. Sorry, it isn't So. Cal., but at least it's So. - So.Afr!

<font color=blue>"Everything in South Africa is cheap right now. A meal will cost you about a third of what you'd pay for the same thing in the United States. Beachfront property is proportionately cheaper again. More like 5% to 10% of its U.S. equivalent."</font color=blue>

Cape Town, South Africa</font color=orange> (http://www.internationalliving.com/postcards.cfm?pcard=1596><font)

That's the best I could do. Oh yeah, it isn't free, either, but it sure is cheap! At least it was in August 2000.

Nana...you are funny, but don't you think you spend just a tad too much time on the internet (where do you find all this stuff!!)

Jase /images/forums/icons/tongue.gif

Don't listen to me 'cos I'm stupid!!

Nana

Jase,

You're right. That's it! No more internet for me.

<font color=red>I quit!</font color=red>

Nana /images/forums/icons/wink.gif

PS: Searchengines.

No don't quit!!

I didn't mean anything by it...I was just wondering!!

I realise 'search engines' but what do you type into a search engine to find the relative real estate costings between SA and USA .... I think you get my point!!

It's too late, Jase, I already quit. /images/forums/icons/wink.gif

Seriously, I'm partially disabled and permamently unemployable. Consequently, I have a tremendous amount of free time. Too much, actually. My disability affects my mobility, so here I am. I seriously enjoy WinGuides, so I'm here for a few hours every day. I visit other forums but there's only one other that I'm a member of. Don't want to split my fabulous personality too thin, you know.

Regarding todays real estate transaction:
I entered "Beachfront Property"+Cheap as my keywords and Google spit that one out - around #160 or something. I previewed a lot of 'sights' before finding the 'site' I used. It didn't have anything to do with comparison shopping, sorry.

BTW: I didn't take the slightest offence at what you said. If I can dish quips out to others, I'd better be prepared to take them myself.

Nana....to my discredit (or credit?) I figured the first half of your post could be the possible explanation but only after I had pressed 'continue' to post the message. I apologise.

I too seem to be spending more and more time at these forums (fortunately my employers haven't realised!) and am genuinely intrigued by ppl's problems and the answers they receive.

I dare say we shall be 'chatting' in the future, but (LOL) SA v USA .....!!!! (As a matter of point I lived in the States for a few years and have been to SA twice and I concur...SA is much cheaper!! I'll leave the details until the chat room evolves!!)

Jase,

Please, NO apology. You're fairly new to WinGuides so you couldn't have known that. It doesn't bother me to live with it or to talk about it, either. So, take your foot out of your mouth and get over it. That's an order!
