Hello everyone,

Why isn't there a Temporary Internet Files folder in Windows File Manager - Start, Run, "Winfile", OK?

Great news! /images/forums/icons/smile.gif My first grandson was born at 5AM yesterday, December 4, 2002. Mom, dad, baby, and grandparents are all doing well. Naturally, my grandson is just as clever as his grandmother! /images/forums/icons/wink.gif
Nuff said.

Thank you for your help,
Nana /images/forums/icons/smile.gif

Nana,

Sorry I can't help with your problem but I'd just like to say congratulations on your first grandson.

If he's as clever as you he should do well in this world. All the best to mom, dad and baby as well.

Cheers
Andy

Congrats Nana!

The only thing I can think of is that winfile is a 16-bit application and it doesn't use the Microsoft common dialog control like the 32-bit explorer.exe does.

Congrats. You know, of course, that the only reason to have children is to have grandchildren.

Winfile/File Manager is a hold-over from Win3.x and WinNT3.5 .

The NT4 version will still work in Win2000/WinXP but it never had right-mouse support.

The NT4 version supports long file names where the Win98SE [and 95/ME?] version doesn't.

Interesting that WinNT4 couldn't work with FAT32 formatted drives but its File Manager can. It is installable simply by copying files as a stand-alone applet.

Gentlemen and Bert, /images/forums/icons/wink.gif

Thank you one and all for your congratulations. Of course, I was shamelessly fishing for them, but Reece is worth it. He's gorgeous! I promise not to spoil him - for another day or two, anyway.

Also, thank you for the WinFile information. I'd never even heard of it until I ran into it by accident the other night. Naturally, I had to check it out.

Take care,
Nana /images/forums/icons/smile.gif

EDIT:
Bert,
You are correct regarding WinFiles and long file names. AFAIK, it does not support them. It certainly doesn't show them.

Hello, Nana:

I'm still here reading and trying to pick up a thing or two. I decided not to post except in an absolute emergency as I'm afraid I ran you pretty ragged finishing my last "project"! I did want to add my congratulations to the lot; good to hear everyone is doing well. Pretty soon you get to try Hally's trick - typing capital letters with grandson on your lap!

Best wishes, /images/forums/icons/smile.gif

Janann,

Thank you very much. Both of them come home this morning. I can't wait!

You didn't run anybody ragged last time. That's why we're here. If nobody asked questions, everyone here would have to pack their bags and go home. Personally, I'd miss WinGuides.

BTW: I'm pretty handy typing with something on my lap. I type - with all the correct finger positions, no less - laying down with my keyboard on my lap. Not a fair comparison, though. It doens't wiggle, does it?

Take care and come back to visit soon,
Nana /images/forums/icons/smile.gif

Dan,

Thank you.
Is home ever going to be different for the next little while. The ubiquitous "they" say a person can get used to anything, though. So, here goes nothin'!

Howdy Nana,
Congratulations to a proud Nana,/images/forums/icons/smile.gif I just noticed your post. A huge Hug & Kiss to the little guy from Australia, even a cheeky "Goo Goo Gugga" from our little Steven to Nana's new little treasure I can't believe 5 weeks since I had my first grandson, so quick has it gone. I'm happy for you getting them home so fast now days. They told us some mums go home after 4hrs, holy cow

Thank you very much, Hally. Reece & Jennifer just got home from the hospital 3 hours ago - at 10:00PM Friday night.
Reece was jaundiced so they kept him longer than normal. As soon as his blood work indicated everything was alright, both he & my daughter-in-law were discharged. Our hospitals are so desperate for beds that they ship patients home no matter what the time.
Anyway, they're both home now and that's all that counts.

I'd like to thank all of you again for your kind congratulations. A baby is the best kind of present anyone could possibly receive at this special time of year.

Crono_79,

Thank you so much for the congratulations. This new special man in my life is absolutely the neatest baby in the world!

And, happy belated birthday to you. I'll be thinking of you next year, for sure, when we celebrate Reece's first birthday.

You'll be 21 - a very special age, depending on where you live. In Ontario, Canada, where I live, 21 was the legal drinking age when I was growing up, lo those many years ago. Now it's 19. It was, at one time, the age when you could legally sign many different legal contracts as well. Now that, too, has changed. I believe it's 18 for that.

Thank you again,
Nana /images/forums/icons/smile.gif

Hi Nana
You can legally drink alcohol at 18 in Australia /images/forums/icons/crazy.gif, just to let you all know /images/forums/icons/shocked.gif

It was 18 here for a few years as well, but it got raised to 19. Somehow, it didn't change the clientelle in the bars. They just borrow IDs and get in, regardless.

Hi Nana,

Congratulations on the new edition to your family. I’m glade everyone is ok. I was a bit disappointed by the fact that you guys didn’t name him after me. ( I strongly believe that every child should be named after a great person so that the child would have someone to inspire him) /images/forums/icons/wink.gif

Sweetie, I’m sorry it took me 4 long days to congratulate you, I’ve had a lot on my plate lately, I changed jobs, girlfriends and moved homes in the space of two weeks while serving my notice and working fulltime /images/forums/icons/crazy.gif
Who said I can’t multitask? heh?

By the way, here in the UK, you can have kids when you’re 12, get married and drive a car legally when you’re 16/17 BUT you can’t buy a can of beer nor can you vote until you’re 18. which one requires more maturity? Bringing a child into this world, or voting for a hypocrite who’ll leave office in 5 years without fulfilling a single one of the promises he made before being elected??

Jama,
I would have waited 4 months for your message. It was wonderful! Thank you so much.

You have been a very busy boy lately. Did all these changes come at the same time by happenstance? Or, are you just a natural born masochist?

I fully agree with you about the craziness of some of the laws around the world. In Ontario, Canada, the ages may be slightly different, but the priveleges (??) are pretty much in the same order. One difference that I know of - one can vote at 18, but that same voter has to wait until the following year to celebrate their candidate's victory/defeat. Who cares anyway?

It's about this part of your message . . .single one of the promises he made before . . . Them are fightin' words!

Now, about the name. All first born sons for the past 5 generations have had the same initials, R.N.B. I'm sure you can understand why we had to leave Jama out this time. It's definitely at the top of the list for the next born!

Thanks again, Jama, for your great message,
Nana /images/forums/icons/smile.gif

PS: Does it matter if our next born is a goldfish? /images/forums/icons/wink.gif
