alright guys here is my problem ...
click on dialup and connect ... I get the tone ... modem dials ... line is busy ... cancel the task ...
do a redial ... I double click to connect again and well ... there is no tone in my line !! I cancel the task again ...
press ... cntl+atl+del ... I select "rnaapp" and I click on "end task" ... and it's done ... or if I give it 4-5 seconds the "rnaapp" goes out by iteslf ... which is pretty annoying if you are redialing like this.
ok when I come back to my dialup window after end task , and connect , well there is a tone and modems dials as well ..
now why is it happening like that? anyone who knows why is it happening and where I can change the settings so I dun have to like dial and than kill the task and than dial again and it takes alot of time ...
I am using a hardware USR modem.
thanx in advance

How long do you wait before attempting a redial? It takes a while for the modem to reset after canceling a connection attempt. It would eventually get to the point where you can redial without having to kill the task. After aborting a connection attempt, wait 15 seconds, then try again.

Oh.
Any recent additions to your software or hardware?

Well, I really couldn't guess the problem. One of those things that's hard to diagnose without being in front of the computer with the problem. For what its worth, this is what I am thinking:
Something has changed. The software is exactly the same as what worked just fine in the past, settings and all, true? No software that might be trying to access the internet that the system would have to disengage from the modem following a failed connection attempt? Then the only other variable is the hardware. Though it is the same hardware any number of things could have happened to it to change its performance. Since you don't have a similar problem with other apps, just the dial-up, then it must be the modem, either the modem itself or its communication with the telephone line or the motherboard.
I don't know for sure what the problem is, but if it were me I would try the following things, one at a time. Pull the modem and re-seat it in it's slot to insure a good connection (communication) to the motherboard, possibly in a different slot. Then I'd change out my telephone patch cord from the wall to the modem, and probably try a different wall jack, to insure a good connection (communication) to the telco system. Finally, if one of these things didn't get it, I'd borrow a modem from someone and try it out to eliminate the modem itself as the weak link. Don't know what to say beyond this.
