Hi all,

I have win95 installed on my PC. It has been working fine. Today when I reboot the machine efter some initialization I got the
message "Operative system not found". Why I get this message, what has happened to my machine? What I remember is that I did clean the place near the computer which might have caused that some cable gets loose, may this cause the error I get? or there is something else I have to check.
Please help me in this regard.
regards

Jostling the computer can certainly cause data or power cables to become unplugged. Did you try booting to a Win95 boot floppy?

Thanks for response.

What I remember is the command to boot is the following:
fdisk /mbr ( efter inserting the boot disk)

Now I wonder, do I loose the data on my machine when I boot it with the above command?
thanks

You won't lose any data with that command but first boot to the floppy and type C: and press enter. If the C:\> prompt comes up, type DIR and press enter, you should get a list of folder and files on the drive. If so, then at the A: prompt type fdisk/mbr. You may have to also type sys C:, that will make the C: drive bootable. None of these commands should cause any data loss.
