Hello,
For the past few days, everytime I close Microsoft Word, I get a message saying "Winword has caused an error in USER32.dll. Winword will close now."
I thought it was nothing important, but it is still persisting. What do I do?
Manojo,
Have a look at Works Suite Err Msg: Winword Caused an Invalid Page Fault in Module User32.dll - Article 257417. I think it describes exactly what is happening with you.
Here is another Works Suite Err Msg: Winword Caused an Invalid Page Fault in Module User32.dll - Article 251300, but I don't think it's as specific as the first one.
Good luck,

Thanks a lot for the message.
The problem is that I don't have Works Suite. I have all MSoffice programs(like Excel, Powerpoint, etc.)
I have something called Microsoft Works, but I couldn's find Word, as they said in the first article.
I couldn't solve the problem with the second article either, because I dont have officeAV.dll
Pleasse help!
Thanks a lot

is it the same if you log on as a different user?
Manojo,
Sorry - it looked promising, didn't it?

If possible, try reinstalling

i wasn't joking about new/other user. sometimes a damaged profile can do such things. or try deleting normal.dot (the one used by you-as there may be several present). or simply try running word with different credentials e.g admin account or whatever.
and is it possible an autoupdate has happened?
what about running office setup and repair?

myterywolf,
there is only one user on my computer: that's me :)
Nana,
thanks, it was interesting indeed.
I'll try to reinstall Word though.
Thanks,
Manojo
P.S. Do you think it is a problem with the Normal.doc file? Word asked me to save changes for it!!

Do you have the latest updates for Office 2000?
You can easily do a repair install of Office (start the install and one option should be to repeat the previous installation). Probably worh a shot - it's the easiest possible solution if it works.

not to be pedantic but there are at least 2 users... you and default.
for win98 you can use the default by 'escape' through the logon or/and for other OS you can use default by creating another user.- which will use default as a basis. then, office will build anew for that user and it might show up where the problem lies. I have come across such symptoms for some users and not others yet on the same pc and it turned out to be within the profile - often normal.dot.
but there are many possibilities, - i'm just offering one.

Try this...go to Start - Run - and browse to Word.exe at the end of the run dialog add a space and /a
this will start Word clean ie. no addins, etc
If it runs ok then you have a damaged template or macro somewhere. if it works I would start by deleting all templates and go from there.
