When I share a network folder or printer, I find some win98 client can't connect to my computer.
The win98 client need IPC$ password to login.
I have set everyone to connect the resources..
Thanks

when you installed win98 and the dialogue box for computer name and workgroup name appeared you probably (as is the norm) jsut accepted default of 'workgroup'.
becoming a guest machine on a domain (as win98s are) happens at boot - before user logon.
(even though you don't workgroups this can still matter.)
So pc <whatevername> of workgroup <workgroup> becomes a guest. and the user is <user> of domain <workgroup>..
the effects of this can be very strange and often go unnoticed, eg sometimes things are ok sometimes not, sometimes things go missing from net nhood yet the pc beside can see them ok. often difficult to pin down and not constant, but trust me this has been the cause of so many netwark weidies I've lost count. esp corporate ras users who log on but see /connect to nowt! and slow outlook can be caused as well!!!
good practice ...always make workgroup of 98 clients the same as the domain name
and this is not the setting for 'logon to domain'... its the box that says 'workgroup'.
Microsoft have stacks of tech docs about this esp for wins/dhcp problems.
