Ok. i'm very very new to this kind of stuff. About two months back, i bought a computer with Win ME. Now, more than ever, whenevr i try to enter the "control panel" or "my computer", the computer just hanged, like forever. When i press "alt-ctrl-del" there are really (about 18) a lot of program there. i heard it's something to do with it ? am i correct ? how can i solve the hanging problem ? how can i remove those programs that are running background ?

thanks a lot. I really appreciate anyone's help.

Go to Start > Run, type Msconfig.

On the Startup tab you'll see almost all applications that start up automatically as Windows loads, and they can be disabled right there.

Some of them however are required, so please don't go wildly unchecking everything in sight.

Use <a target="_blank" href=http://www.pacs-portal.co.uk/startup_pages/startup_full.htm>Pacman's List of Startup Applications</a> to determine what should stay and what can go.

In case of doubt, don't hesitate to ask.

Cheers, Tony
