I upgraded internet service to cable modem, and all is working well except I cannot change homepage; it stays set to old isdn address. I have

changed it in general....shut down and restart; it's back

changed it through control panel...shut down/restart; it's back

It also tries to bring an old dial-up password into setup for cable WHERE IS THIS STUFF HIDING???

Look in Connections in Internet Options and see if you have any Dial Up settings remaining in that first window. If so, delete them and see if that helps.

Also look in msconfig and see if some program is starting that's calling for that page to be loaded.

Have check and re-entered new connections. It shows the cable connection, but old homepage in general tab. This is the homepage that I cannot get rid of. I have deleted everything from the Internet options, but it still remains.

thanks

check msconfig, and found listing that cured another minor problem with adobe, but nothing that would correct the homepage problem. Would anything be in the document and settings as a hidden file?

What happens when you try to change the home page in Internet Options?

I just came across a setting that might possibly shake things loose.

In Internet Options on the Programs tab there is a button near the bottom called "Reset Web Settings" which is supposed to return IE6 to the default home and search settings.

Also, make sure you have a tick mark next to Internet Explorer should check to see if it is the default browser.
