I upgraded from Win ME to Win XP and lost the bookmarks that I had from the old OS. Is there a way to get the old bookmarks back are they lost forever? Thank you.

From what I have read, they are toast. It's always a good thing to keep periodic backups of your Favorites, e-mail and address book.

When I upgraded to XP my Favorites survived but I lost all my wife's saved e-mail and the address books (slept in the garage for a week!).

Yep, didn't back them up either. /images/forums/icons/crazy.gif

if you really mean upgraded then all OS retain such things. If they don't then its a fresh install not an upgrade.
xp and its nanny ways goes further with the option of zipping up all personal stuff for you (it finds it itself) so you can restore even after a clean install. you might have taken this option and not realised it..read the help.
but apart from that 2000/xp organise user profiles in a different way to earlier OS, and what you seek might be still on disk. search for favourites or a name of one of them. it could be in a profile built for the old user it found on the old OS and you as a new user won't automatically be shown it.
