Can a user tell me what the catch is? Ads, mailing lists, etc...anything? Free virus protection sounds too good to be true, and with the internet, I've learned to be leery of things like that.
Thanks

I have used this free virus protection program for about a year and am pleased with it. It had good reviews on computer related sites. I have not identified any catches. However, I do wonder how long they will continue to offer it for free. They sell a pro version and some other software also. I assume they believe that users who have a successful experience with the free software will chose to buy their pro version, or other software they produce. However, there are no nagging request to do this. The company's home base is the Cheq Republic so this also may be a way to break into US markets. This is the same marketing techique used for the personal firewall Zone Alarm.

l've used it for the past year and no spyware or ads that l know of. l presume they use it to encourage sales of the payable version, or maybe a virtual Santa does exist
I use it as a backup to run in the background. It has
found & stopped viruses Norton missed. Free yes,
but it is very good none the less.
Take a look at http://housecall.trendmicro.com/
it`s free and splendid!
I have never tried this one (I personally use Grisoft´s AVG) but this one is a free antivirus I found searching the web (which makes 3 the av softwares that are free that I know of)
Go check it: <a target="_blank" href=http://www.free-av.com/>http://www.Free-av.com</a>
See you later, alligator.
