I know that I have a modem on my laptop running windows 2000, but it seems that it's disabled, I can't find in my anything about the modem used. I tried the control pannel, or my computer, hardware, device manager, no modem there!!
I don't have the win2k cd.
could someone tell me what should i do?
thanks

Hello,
If Windows 2000 has not detected it then there is a problem. Have you tried scanning for non plug and play devices?
I would contact the people who supplied the notebook and get them to check it, is it still in warrenty?
I purchase many notebooks each year for business use and have found a few where the daughter card has not been fitted correctly, thus causing the modem not to be detected and work.

Hi,
I still have problems. I don't have any ports!!!
I have done the following steps:
1- control pannel, Add/Remove hardware
2- Add/Troublshoot a device
3- Add a new device
4- Windows is detecting new hardware
5- widows did not find any new devices on your computer
6- I want to select the hardware from a list
7- I selected the modems from the list
8- Windows attempting to find my modem
9- Windows did not any new legacy (non Plug & play) modems attached to your computer
10- I'm selecting my modem from the list
11- On which pors do you want to install it?
Here it is I don't have any port to select from and go to the next step. I don't know why it don't give me any ports.
what should i do?
thanks

Use the details at this link to determine what your exact adapter details are and then download the drivers for the one that is determined.
