Help ! I need to restrict access to a single folder on my win XP pro computer on a peer to peer network. I need to allow access by only SOME of the computers on the network. With win 98 it's dead easy, I just assign a password to the folder. However, with XP pro, I am tearing my hair trying to password protect a single network-shared folder. Please can you help me?

Can you not just right-click on the folder and choose properties and then security and specify which local or network users can access the folder?

When I right click a folder and hit properties, I don't show any options to specify who gets access to the folder, I just get an option to share the folder on a network or not. How do you get more options to specify who gets access to the folder ?

Hi,

Choose (in explorer) tools, folder options, view and tick off 'use simple file sharing) - this will give you the security tab on the right click properties.
