Killerbeez36,

Before you do anything, you have to <font color=red>get rid of the virus.</font color=red> Then, System Restore is available in WinMe.

To get rid of the virus, you need to know what one it is. Then, visit one of the several AntiVirus sites available on the net. Ususally they have some kind of a virus removal tool or instructions on how to remove it.
Here are two of the biggest.

McAfee (http://securityresponse.symantec.com/>Symantec</a>
OR
<a)

You can search on the web for other AntiVirus sites.
<a target="_blank" href=http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&q=%22AntiVirus%22&spell=1>Google AntiVirus Sites</a>

And, in order to protect yourself in the future, get an AntiVirus programme installed. There are some free programmes.
Here's one of them:

Killerbeez36,

I'm sorry, I can't help you with this problem. I've asked a friend to have a look, so check here later.

CAUTION:

don't go rushing in! installing and running a virus checker without thinking might result in the default configuration finding a virus and deleting the file for you. quarantine and repair should be used.
if things are that important why not buy a new drive. remove completely your old one, set up the new one. get it fully set up and updated for virus checking, then put you old one back in as a second drive to copy what you need off?

You could try going online to an antivirus site which offers a free online scan. (I just did a Google search on 'Antivirus scan online' and got loads). This will give you the name and details of which virus you have. Symantec, (Norton Antivirus), or others will then probably offer a removal tool for that particular virus which you can download and advice on how to apply it to clean your system.

Best of luck.
