I'm used to running DisableRegistryEditingTools on 9x systems, then using the unlock to get back in. Unfortunatly I ran it on an xp machine loged in as admin thinking I could just run unlock and get back in, oops. What are my options to getting back into the registry with the admin account? How do I unlock regedit for any account for that matter. I do have another administrator account thats not locked, can I use this account even though its under hkcurrent user?

You can slave the drive on the other machine and then use resplendent registrar www.resplendence.com to open the slave registry and edit the key.

There is 3 or 4 way to do this. Let me show you the
easiest way to do it is. Logon the account that you
have regedit restricted. Go to Dosprompt and type:
reg add HKCU\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\pol icies\system /v DisableRegistryTools /t reg_dword /d 0 and enter. It will ask to override and say yes.
